Physiognomy was popular in the 19th century, used by many to determine if someone was a criminal and if so what kind using a series of specific measurements. With this piece of work Kerry wanted to look at the use of Physiognomy in modern day using celebrities accused of sexual assault such as Harvey Weinstein. The reason for using Harvey Weinstein as subject of this piece was because he was defended several times using the popular phrase “He doesn’t look the type…” This term led to Kerry’s investigation into whether or not in the 19th century those accused today would have been branded Criminal. This Topic is linked with the theme Disruption = Cultural reinvention as it takes the power of white males and flips it on its head as we challenge what we as a society deem to be “The Type”.
